Denbigh Town Football Club traces its history back to 1876, when a group of soldiers formed the side at 'The Parks' in the town, initially playing under a succession of names including Town, Caledfryn Rangers, Juniors and United before settling on Denbigh Town.
The club enjoyed particular success in 1924, winning both the Welsh Amateur Cup and the North Wales Coast Amateur Cup, and again through the 1970s under manager John Trevor Roberts, when Denbigh won the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) Division One title four times and the League Cup five times, alongside further North Wales Coast Amateur Cup wins in 1970 and 1972.
The club left the Wrexham Area League for the Clwyd Football League in the early 1980s, won promotion to the Clwyd Premier Division in 1992, and moved up again into the Welsh Alliance League for the 1994/95 season. Denbigh Town now play in the Cymru North, the third tier of the Welsh football pyramid, with home matches still held at Central Park in the town.
